- How it works
- Your kid tests themselves first with notes closed, rates each topic (CLEARED / MISTY / FOGGED), practices the weak topics from memory on 2 or more days, checks every mistake, then runs a mixed, timed practice test. Three routes: 5+ days, 2 to 4 days, or the test is tomorrow (one 90-minute page).
- Format
- Instant download, 4 PDFs. US Letter, black-and-white friendly, print at home. Nothing ships.
- Price
- $16.99 (save $1.99 vs. buying both separately)
- License
- One household, or one teacher’s own students. Reprint as often as you need.
Your kid can tell you the attack pattern of a boss they beat three weeks ago. Which potion works on which enemy. Where the save point is. Exactly how much XP the next level costs.
Then a science test shows up, and “studying” means flipping through notes once on the couch.
That kid doesn’t have a memory problem. They have a strategy problem. Boss Battle hands them the strategy in the language they already speak fluently.

The Test Is The Boss. This Is The Campaign.
Boss Battle is a 16-page study campaign for ONE test. The cover hands your kid a key: the boss is the test, regions are topics, fog of war is what they don’t know yet, a damage report is figuring out why they missed something. After that, every page is one move.
- THE QUEST BOARD. How many days until the boss arrives? That picks the route. Full Campaign (5+ days), Forced March (2–4 days), or Ambush! (the test is tomorrow: one page, about 90 minutes, no panic).
- MAP THE UNKNOWN. Notes closed. One question per topic, from memory. Then mark the map: CLEARED, MISTY or FOGGED. “I think I know it” is fog. This page clears it.
- INITIATIVE ORDER. The biggest threats act first. No dice. Priority isn’t random.
- THE SPELLBOOK. The right spell for each enemy type: Flash Strike for vocab, Rebuild the Chain for processes, a Battle Plan for essay questions. Rereading and highlighting get called what they are: illusion spells. They look powerful and deal zero damage.
- ENCOUNTER LOG. +1 XP for every try, win or lose. A miss they check and fix still levels them up.
- DAMAGE REPORT + TRAINING GAUNTLET. Why each miss happened and how to patch it. Then a mixed, timed practice fight before the real one, because the boss won’t attack in chapter order.
- AMBUSH! THE BOSS IS TOMORROW. For the night you find out at 8 p.m. One page. About 90 minutes. In order.
The Quest Board: Homework They Can See
The second file is a wall board. Four columns, one rule each:
QUEST LOG · everything due in the next 7 days
TODAY’S QUESTS · max 3. Choose once, then stop deciding.
ACTIVE QUEST · only 1. “Heroes don’t fight three bosses at once.”
CLEARED · finished quests stay up until Friday. Their trophy wall.
Stuck? The card moves to NEED AN ALLY with a name on it. Big project? A Quest Chain card breaks it into steps, and only the next step is active. The board lives on the wall where homework happens, not in a backpack it never leaves.
Bonus: Mehtivation, The Boss Battle Deck
45 illustrated, printable pep-talk cards for the days your kid opens the page and feels nothing. “Low HP.” “Loading Screen.” “Fogged In.” “Respawn.” Each card is honest about how school feels, then gives ONE tiny move that points straight back to a page in the system. Sorted into piles: Stuck, Tired, Too Much, Test Soon, Got It Back, Fresh Start, Any Day.
Made For The Kid Who Can’t Get Started
We designed this with distractible kids and kids with ADHD in mind:
- One job per page, with a DO THIS box of 20 words or fewer
- Every page ends with “Done when” and “Next →”, so nobody holds the plan in their head
- Print only the pages on their route. No 80-page binder
- Missed a day? “Campaigns pause. They don’t reset.” No streaks to break
- XP counts tries, not perfect scores
- A grown-up tone with no cartoon mascots, so a 13-year-old won’t feel babied
The method comes from research on how memory works: practicing from memory, spacing it over several days, and checking mistakes. It’s a tool, not a treatment for ADHD.
For You, The Grown-Up
The Training Gauntlet page has a “Proof it worked” box: how many regions were CLEARED at the start, and how many are ready now. The page says it plainly: “Show this to whoever keeps asking ‘did you study?'”
There’s also a page just for you, on how to help in small ways and then step back so the campaign stays theirs.

Questions parents ask
What ages and grades is this for?
Ages 11 to 14 is the sweet spot (grades 5 to 9). The tone is grown-up, with no cartoon mascots, so a 13-year-old won’t feel babied.
What is the bonus card deck?
Mehtivation: The Boss Battle Deck is 45 illustrated, printable pep-talk cards for the days your kid feels meh. Each card names the feeling, then gives one tiny move back into their Boss Battle and The Quest Board pages. It’s included free with this bundle.
The test is tomorrow. Is it too late?
No. There is a one-page plan for the night before, about 90 minutes, in order.
Is it good for kids with ADHD?
It was designed with distractible kids and kids with ADHD in mind: one job per page, a short DO THIS line, short sessions, a clear next step and nothing that resets after a missed day. It is a study tool, not a treatment.
Does my kid have to love RPG fantasy things?
It helps. The whole system speaks the language of dragons, quests, D&D-style adventures and fantasy video games. If that’s not your kid, the same system comes in 10 other worlds with matching page numbers.
Can I use it for homeschool or my classroom?
Yes. The license covers one household, or one teacher’s own students. Reprint it for every test this year.
