Printable science lab homework board for the kid who remembers every experiment but not the worksheet due tomorrow. Every assignment becomes a card they can see and move.
Sound Familiar?
The worksheet is somewhere in the backpack. Possibly under a banana.
The planner came home blank. Again.
“I didn’t know it was due!” And honestly, they didn’t. The reminder lived inside a closed laptop.
Remembering to check later is hard for a lot of kids. So put it on the wall.
How The Lab Board Runs
Four columns, like samples moving through a lab:
THE QUEUE: everything due in the next 7 days. One card per thing.
TODAY’S RUNS: max 3. Pick today’s runs once. Then stop deciding.
RUNNING NOW: only 1. One experiment on the bench at a time.
COMPLETE: finished cards stay up all week. Those are the results.
Stalled? The card parks in NEED INPUT with the name of who can help.
Big project? A PROTOCOL card breaks it into up to 6 steps, and the first unchecked step goes to RUNNING NOW.
Every card has a NEXT STEP line, so after dinner or a phone break your kid knows exactly where they left off.
Friday Is Data Day
The routine poster ends each week with Count Your Results. Your kid counts the COMPLETE cards, files them in an envelope (their lab notebook), and circles one win. You see a stack of finished work instead of asking about it.
What’s Inside
- Cover and a 15-minute setup page with a start cue (“I update it when…”)
- 4 column pages that tape into one board
- 10 cut-out task cards
- 4 PROTOCOL cards for big projects
- A daily (2 to 5 minutes) and Friday routine poster
- A page for you, with an 8-week plan for stepping back
- PLUS a single 11×17 board sheet for a print shop
Why It Works
A visible board takes the to-do list out of your kid’s head. A short, pre-picked list removes the “what should I do?” stall. The one-card rule is a design choice, not a research claim, and your page says so. It asks one thing of you: ask, don’t move the cards.
How It Arrives
Instant digital download: 2 PDFs. No physical item ships. The 10-page US Letter file prints at home and is black-and-white friendly. The 11×17 board is ready for a copy shop. You’ll need paper, scissors and tape.
FAQ
Does it have to be science homework?
No. Any class, any assignment. The lab is the language, not the subject.
My kid ignores planners. Why would this be different?
It’s on the wall, not in a closed book, and it’s theirs to run. They move the cards. You ask, “What’s RUNNING NOW?”
Is it ADHD-friendly?
Designed with ADHD and easily distracted kids in mind: few decisions, one task at a time, progress you can see. It’s an organizing tool, not a treatment.
What if the board stops getting updated?
Normal. Your page shows how to step back in, no failure involved.

Questions parents ask
What ages and grades is this for?
Ages 11 to 14 is the sweet spot (grades 5 to 9). The tone is grown-up, with no cartoon mascots, so a 13-year-old won’t feel babied.
Is it good for kids with ADHD?
It was designed with distractible kids and kids with ADHD in mind: one job per page, a short DO THIS line, short sessions, a clear next step and nothing that resets after a missed day. It is a study tool, not a treatment.
Does my kid have to love science lab things?
It helps. The whole system speaks the language of experiments, science kits, nature and figuring out how things work. If that’s not your kid, the same system comes in 10 other worlds with matching page numbers.
Can I use it for homeschool or my classroom?
Yes. The license covers one household, or one teacher’s own students. Reprint it for every test this year.
