Science lab study bundle for kids: a test prep protocol for test week and a homework kanban board for every week. Your kid collects the data. You see the proof.
Sound Familiar?
Your kid can explain why salt makes ice melt faster. Ask about Thursday’s quiz and you get a shrug.
Monday starts with “what do I even have?”
Test night ends with “I studied!” after one pass through the notes.
Same kid, two different problems: keeping track, and studying in a way that sticks. This set gives each its own tool, in one world.
Every Week: The Lab Board
A printable kanban board, taped in a row:
THE QUEUE (due in the next 7 days) to TODAY’S RUNS (max 3) to RUNNING NOW (only 1) to COMPLETE (stays up all week).
Stuck cards park in NEED INPUT. Big projects get a PROTOCOL card with up to 6 steps. Fridays end with Count Your Results.
Test Week: Results Day
A 16-page protocol for one test. Every topic is a claim. Notes closed, your kid runs a Baseline Test and marks each one CONFIRMED, INCONCLUSIVE or UNPROVEN. Then come trials from memory, logged whether they hit or miss. A claim only earns REPLICATED when it’s right on 2 different days. A Controlled Trial (mixed, timed, notes closed) ends in a Proof it worked box.
How They Fit
The board keeps the week visible. When a test lands in THE QUEUE, Results Day takes over for that test. Same rules in both: one thing at a time, notes closed, count what actually got done.
What’s Inside
- Results Day: 16 pages, with 3 routes by days left (5+, 2 to 4, tomorrow), Trial Cards, Trial Log, Error Analysis, Day-Of Protocol and The Write-Up
- The Lab Board: 10 pages, with a setup page, 4 column pages, 10 task cards, 4 PROTOCOL cards and a daily and Friday routine poster
- A single 11×17 board sheet for a print shop
- A one-page guide for you in each tool
Why It Works
Self-testing and spacing practice across days are among the most consistently supported study methods in learning research. A visible board means your kid doesn’t have to remember to open a planner. No grade promises. What you get is clear steps and progress you can see.
How It Arrives
Instant digital download: 4 PDFs, US Letter plus one 11×17 sheet. No physical item ships. Black-and-white friendly. Print at home, or take the big board to a copy shop.
FAQ
Do I need both?
No, each one works alone. Together they cover the everyday homework and the big test.
Is this only for science class?
No. The lab is how your kid thinks, not what they study. Any subject works.
My kid shuts down at long worksheets. Is this a lot of writing?
One job per page. Most of the action is quizzing and moving cards.
Is it ADHD-friendly?
Designed with ADHD and easily distracted kids in mind, for grades 5 to 9. These are learning tools, not a treatment.
License
Test week plus every week. Your kid runs the lab. You read the results.
Bonus: Mehtivation: The Results Day Deck
45 illustrated, printable pep-talk cards for the days your kid opens the page and feels meh. Each card is honest about how school feels, then gives one tiny move that points straight back to a page in the system. Sorted into piles: Stuck, Tired, Too Much, Test Soon, Got It Back, Fresh Start and Any Day.
Questions parents ask
What ages and grades is this for?
Ages 11 to 14 is the sweet spot (grades 5 to 9). The tone is grown-up, with no cartoon mascots, so a 13-year-old won’t feel babied.
What is the bonus card deck?
Mehtivation: The Results Day Deck is 45 illustrated, printable pep-talk cards for the days your kid feels meh. Each card names the feeling, then gives one tiny move back into their Results Day and The Lab Board pages. It’s included free with this bundle.
The test is tomorrow. Is it too late?
No. There is a one-page plan for the night before, about 90 minutes, in order.
Is it good for kids with ADHD?
It was designed with distractible kids and kids with ADHD in mind: one job per page, a short DO THIS line, short sessions, a clear next step and nothing that resets after a missed day. It is a study tool, not a treatment.
Does my kid have to love science lab things?
It helps. The whole system speaks the language of experiments, science kits, nature and figuring out how things work. If that’s not your kid, the same system comes in 10 other worlds with matching page numbers.
Can I use it for homeschool or my classroom?
Yes. The license covers one household, or one teacher’s own students. Reprint it for every test this year.
